Not So Languid heads directly to Advocate Obstacle test

Not So Languid is set to go straight for the Unibet Champion Obstacle subsequent to placing in a frustrating presentation on his most recent beginning.

Hughie Morrison’s puzzling 10-year-old was last of five to Epatante in the Christmas Obstacle at Kempton after dead-warming for the lead position with the Nicky Henderson-prepared female horse in the Battling Fifth at Newcastle on his past start.

Not So Languid was a noteworthy fifth behind Honeysuckle in the 2021 Top dog Obstacle and after his Newcastle achievement, Morrison feels Grade Ones is currently where the pony should be.

“He’s quite well. He clearly didn’t fancy Kempton that day, which he’s qualified for do after 55 races. He’s mature enough to care for himself,” said the East Ilsley controller.

“Presently he’s a Grade One victor there’s little point in going for anything more other than a Grade One, yet as he gets more established he runs best new. He’ll go for the Hero Obstacle and we’ll trust he can run into a spot. He’ll go straight there – he won’t run previously.”

Morrison is anticipating sending Filanderer beginner jumping next season after the gelding made a triumphant presentation in a guard at Warwick on New Year’s Eve.

The six-year-old, possessed and reared by Morrison’s better half, Mary, made the huge delay for his racecourse presentation advantageous when beating Samurai One by a length and a quarter.
